Rules & consultations
In July 2018, the rule and associated notice that sets the minimum performance specifications for ADS-B and a mandate for aircraft that fly above FL 245 came into force.
The current rules for ADS-B are:
Part 91 Amendment 31
Notice 091-258
Advisory Circular 91-24
Part 1 Amendment 54
Part 43 Amendment 15
Part 66 Amendment 6
Part 103 Amendment 8
Part 172 Amendment 13
Consultation Has Now Closed
Submissions have now closed on the ADS-B consultation for the proposed rule change that would make ADS-B mandatory for all aircraft in controlled airspace below Flight Level 245 from 31 December 2021.
We will now consider the submissions and provide a summary of this information to the Ministry of Transport and Minister of Transport. A final policy decision on the proposed 2021 ADS-B Mandate is likely to be made by Cabinet by mid-2020.
